The Museum "Art of Wood" - Campulung Moldovenesc

MONTAIN TRACKS
Mountain Massive Rarau - Giumalau
Giumalau presents a vast network of marked tourist routes, the network that allows the crossing in all directions, and knowing the area, with mountain landscape beauties and tourist targets. In this region there can be demarcated three important convergences of marked trails, which give tourists the opportunity to choose the best variant to browse this mountain area.
1. The most important point is located near Motel "Alpine" Rarau, where routes coming from
Campulung Moldovenesc meet with those coming from Bistrita, Stanisoara Mountains and
Giumalau
2. The second point is placed in Saua Fundu Colbului, located northwest of Hotel "Rarau", place
where routes coming from Campulung Moldovenesc meat with the ones coming from Bistrita,
Stanisoara Mountains and Giumalau Mountains.
3. The third point is Giumalau Peak, the highest in the region, with a range to which converge routes
coming from the Rarau Peak, from Bistrita Valley, as well as those from Putna Valley.
Mountain massive Calimani delimits Bucovina south from Harghita County.
From Campulung Moldovenesc the access is DN 17, up in the city of Vatra Dornei, from here can be reached through the municipalities Sarul Dornei and Neagra Sarului, with cars as well as on tourist marked routes.

In clear
winter days from here the Moldoveanu Peak in the
Fagaras Mountains can be seen clearly. Cheile "Moara Dracului" Geological Reserve of 10 ha; Carstica zone of Rarau Whitch is important both in the primary objective "Pietrele Doamnei", as well as other less known, such as dolinele under Rarau Peak and on Todirescu, Bat Cave, key sectors of the Houses Valley (Moara Dracului) and the White Spring (Piatra Buhei), the abrupt alpinists area Popchilor Rarau.
The "Ion Tugui" collection which comprises over 4500 of spoons of wood, hundreds of towels, carpets, pieces of ceramics, ancient coins, medieval and modern. It is located on Str. Gh. Popovici no. 1, Campulung Moldovenesc.

MONASTERIES
VORONET MONASTERY
It is a historical and architectural monument, the most successful work of the Moldavian architectural style, which was built between May 26, 1488 and September 14 the same year, a promise of Stefan the Great after winning the Battle of Valea Alba Razboieni. Voronet became famous throughout the world primarily through his paintings outside: Judecata de Apoi, Cinul, Tree of Ieseu, Acatistul Sf. Ioan cel Nou. Another important feature is the use of a Voronet blue tonality a special so-called "blue Voronet", performed by local masters by inclusion in the paint composition of minerals.
PUTNA MONASTERY
The most important foundation of Stefan the Great, is is located at 80.5Km from Pojorata. Construction has started in 1466 and was destroyed by fire in 1484, being rebuilt by Stefan the Great in 1498. The monastery church houses the graves of the great ruler of the second wife of his and his sons. Monastery Museum preserves embroidery, fabrics, silverware, valuable manuscripts, documents authentic medieval.
HUMOR MONASTERY
At 5 km away from Gura Humorului, in the north-west, is situated on the river Humor and it has his routs from the time of Alexander the Good, when a stone church was built in the vicinity of a hermitage oldest stone. In 1530, nearby, on a hill, the today church was built, founded of Theodore Bubuiog. The monastery is in the Moldovan style from the time of Stefan the Great, but the manufacturer has introduced new elements: open porch, mystery, new room dedicated to store the treasure and the monastery ornaments in case of fire. On the wall from mid-day particularly impresses the
"Siege of Constantinople", with the obvious political message. In carrying out its painter was inspired from a well known historical event: the siege of the Byzantine Empire capital by the Pers.
MOLDOVITA MONASTERY
It was built in 1532 and painted in 1537. It is one of the most valuable monuments of medieval art from Romanian from the time of Petru Rares. The monastery appears as a fort, composed of the church itself, the surrounding wall, with three massive towers on the eastern side, and the residence. The painting is of great artistic value, close to the Voronet, differencing its self by the trend of humanization through the figures and presenting them in motion, and by combining in an original way to green and blue colors, seems detached from the raw green grass and the high blue sky.
SUCEVITA MONASTERY
Built at the end of the XVI century, the most fortified monastery complex of Moldova, was designed to shelter the Movilesti family and their impressive treasures. In the exterior painting, green and red dominate. The monastery museum shelters embroidery, silver ware, folk paintings, manuscripts, old books, which confirms the role that culture had Sucevita.
ARBORE CHURCH
Is a noble construction of smaller proportions, being built in 1503 by Luca Arbore, Sucevei doorman. One element that is found only in this church is the large niche on the west side, which apparently served as bell. The length of the church is 24m and its width is 9.85m. What has contributed to the reputation of this monument is painting both the interior and the exterior. On the west wall is painted "The cavalcade of the Emperor Constantine the Great", the scene which appears in the iconography Patrauti only in Moldova and has a strong anti-ottoman message.
PROBOTA MONASTERY
Represents a true testament of the cultural epoch represented by the reign of Petru Rares. It was conceived from the beginning by the founder as his family necropolis. The church, built in 1530, shelters his tomb of his wife Elena, of Stefan their son and other important characters, including Maria-Oltea, the mother of Stefan the Great.
DRAGOMIRNA MONASTERY
Which was built by Mitropolitul Anastasie Crimca in 1609, it is a unique national monastery because of its characteristic planimetry and its great height (42m), as well as for the unique decoration of the outsides walls, with influences Muntenesti with Gothic and Oriental style. In 1627, Mr. Miron Barnovschi, has build high walls to protect the monastery. In the right of the bell tower is placed trapeza, a large room with Gothic vault, which houses an exhibition of religious art, which is illustrated and well-known business schools and miniaturists copyist who worked here.
Maicii Ddomnului Sanctuary Church
Located in the town of Cacica is Roman - Catholic, built in neo-Gothic style, sanctified on 16 October 1904, an event which was attended by Archbishop of Italy, Poland and Cernauti. The monument is distinguished by its beautiful stained glass, but also through the
"Cave of St. Maria". Annually, on August 15, here is the largest Catholic pilgrimage in Moldova.

Seat Fortress of Prince Stephen the Great
It represents an emblematic monument of Suceava.
The central part "Fortul Musatin", 40X36m, belongs to Petru Musat I rule, which dropped the use of Scheia fortress. Alexandru the Good strengthen it, but the one how will give it a legendary invincibility is Stefan the Great. He will rise in two stages exterior walls will redesign defensive moat and the entry into the fortress. National Museum of Bucovina
Located on str. Stefan cel Mare nr.33 Suceava city, offers exhibitions sections of history and archeology, standing out as an exceptional achievement at the national level, both by the richness and value of heritage displayed as by the means of exposure. A unique achievement in the museum is the famous "hall of throne”, witch with the help from in size characters representation of historical (Stefan the Great and Holy, his family, boyars of royal advice, soldiers) of magnetic tape and a games of lights, has reconstituted a solemn scene from the holdings in Suceava of the prince.
Ethnographic Museum of Bucovina
Situated on Ciprian Porumbescu Street no.5, is sheltered in the Royal Inn, lay architectural monument from the XVII century. Here are shown over 6 ethnographic micro zones of the county (Suceava, Humor, Campulung-Moldovenesc, Vatra Dornei, Radauti and Falticeni), exceptional pieces of popular high artistic refinement. It highlights a series of very old folk costumes, collections of masks, painted eggs or pieces carved in wood, some exposed even in the reconstruction of interior peasant houses.
Museum of Natural Sciences
Situated on the str. Stefan cel Mare nr.23, represents the beneficiary of a very valuable heritage for the whole area of Bukovina.
Museum and Memorial House "Ciprian Porumbescu"
It is located in the commune with the same name, at 72km from the town Fundu Moldovei, at 5km from the junction with the road E576 and 21km from the city of Suceava. The museum is sheltered by an old house sec. XVIII, architectural monument, showing the most important moments of life and work of our great composer (1853-1883), the author of "Ballads", the first Romanian operetta "Crai Nou" and "Tricolorului", former national anthem of Romania. The Memorial House is arranged in the parohului Ieraclie Porumbescu household, the father of Ciprian Porumbescu, memorial exhibition shelters many objects of the period, including original furnishings.
The Memorial House "Mihail Sadoveanu"
Situated on str. Ion Creanga nr.65 in the city of Falticeni, including documents, photos, books and objects of our great writer, especially in the period in which he lived in Falticeni.
The Secular Forest Slatioara
This includes the oldest conifer mixed with beech forest in the country. The area is about 854.3 ha (including reserve Todirescu). The access to the mountain massive Rarau is from the town of Campulung Moldovenesc on gravel forest road, approximately 4km, which then becomes hard practicable, then on the path marked with red triangle. Access from the village Chiril is on asphalt road, but is hard accessible in winter. For lovers of mountaineering, along tracks and Bat Cave from the Rarau massive, they can visit Avenul from Frasin, located near the village of Frasin, with a level difference of ~73,2m and a total length of approximately 144m of galleries. Nearby still 2 small caves were found. Again for the lovers of hikes we mention in the area bordering the 100km, Rodnei mountains, with peaks Ineu (2279m), Pietrosul Rodnei (2303m), the glacial lake Ineu and other glacial lakes and caves.
